Face Lift September 5, 2008

Filed under: Family Updates — Talin @ 12:47 am

We decided that our kitchen needs a face lift. Actually, we decided to gut it completely, but then we found out how much that was going to cost, and we decided to go with Plan B for now. So, here are the before pictures:

The last picture is of our kitchen countertops. They are a lovely shade of white with gold glitter and stains from the past 40 years. That is what I am most excited about replacing. Now, you know us crazy “planner-types”, we have made a schedule (yes, a detailed schedule!) of what we are doing every weekend to work on the kitchen. Our estimated date of completion is late-October. I will post more pics soon. Demolition begins FRIDAY!!!

Besides the kitchen, things are going great!!! We are getting back in the swing of school, we are heading up a new ministry at church called “Coins for Kids” where kids raise money and do different service projects. Somehow we got talked into teaching the 18-24 month-old class on Wednesday nights. YIKES! Talin pleaded that I never make him endure such torture again… we had 2 kids screaming at the top of their lungs… one in Talin’s ear because he was restraining him from escaping the classroom. We also had a projectile vomit! So, it was an interesting evening… Talin was hilarious! He did so well, remained calm, was so sweet to the kids, even the ear-screamer, and you wouldn’t have known he was stressed at all! I told him I know he was going to be a great dad someday. He said “Are we really sure about that parenting thing?” Hopefully he wasn’t scared off too bad. Anyway, hope this finds you doing well! Miss you!

I can’t wait to see the finished project…don’t forget to post pics along the journey!! We visited BCOC with my parents last night and Ryan is in the 18-24 month class…there were 5 kids (including Ryan) and they were ALL SCREAMING! I decided to spare the two teachers and let them have two screaming kids a piece and not add Ryan to the mixture! I can’t imagine teaching that class…I hope ya’ll have fun!

I can’t wait to see the new kitchen. You need to fill me in on your plan B. You are very brave taking on the baby class at church! I couldn’t do it.

That sounds like fun, wish we were there to help!
