My Clinical Experience June 30, 2008

Talin here,

I am halfway through with my first 8 week clinical rotation for physical therapy school.  So far, it has been great.   It is a much needed change of pace and scenery from the classroom setting.  I am learning a lot and getting to meet many new people.  It has been a great networking and learning opportunity.  I have been able to see and treat many different cases.  I have also been able to get some wound care experience.  Huguley is a great place for me in that it is not a huge hospital that gets lots of new patients and is crazy all the time, but is big enough that I get to have a good range of patients.  It has been an adjustment to get used to the working life of an 8-5 job.  I walk all day in the hospital and all I really feel like doing when I get home is just to sit down for a while and relax.  This week will be kind of crazy for me because on Tuesday I have to teach at in-service for new nurses (which I am kinda nervous about), Wednesday I have a meeting with a professor for Texas Tech to check on my progress, and I have to work on Friday July 4th (which kind or sucks).  Anyways…things are good and busy.  I am looking forward to a nice break at then end of this.  We will have more to come later on. ~Talin
